Last summer we planted our first ever vegetable garden. And, what do you know? Stuff actually grew! We had lots of big juicy tomatoes. My wife made sauce and I knew right then and there, we needed to be able to save our harvest. So we decided to can. In order to do that, we needed to strain our tomatoes. I had an old hand operated mill, but like I said earlier, we had lot's of maters! The fruit and veggy strainer made quick work of it. It took out the skins and seeds in no time. We even had enough to make spaghetti sauce; gave some as Christmas gifts. We were so pleased, we went to an apple orchard to get some apples and we made applesauce and apple butter. Man, there is no comparison to store bought.
This attachment makes the job lots easier. If you have a Kitchen Aid mixer to hook this bad boy to, then buy it. You won't be sorry.
I bought the tray attachment to by the way. Almost a necessity when processing more than a handful of things. My wife and I worked together on it. One would cut the apples or tomatoes into pieces and put them in the tray, the other would smoosh them into the strainer.

I was glad to get an attachment for my KitchenAid, instead of buying another machine. I steamed fruit and then it ran through the strainer real easy. I'd give it five stars after one use.

This KitchenAide vegetable strainer works great and is a must have if you home can tomato sauce.

Have only used it for fresh tomatoes so far. I agree with other's reviews that the manufacturers directions leave a lot to be desired. Followed other reviews and intended to run them through 3 times. After twice however, we realized there was no more to be had. The only thing that bothered was the amount of pulp I found while dismantling it. Am hoping to find a better way in the future to not leave so much usable material in the sink. Will experiment with it next time before just tossing everything in the sink. Cleaning was fairly straight-forward. Stores easily in the box. Does the job I bought it for in spades.

The FVSP works well, but the only down side is that if you are doing small batches of friuts or veggies the cleanup takes a bit longer than I would like it to. If you just wanted to make a glass of juice every morning I would but a stand alone juicer. In large batches it works well and is worth it. It is a cheeper alternitive to buying a fruit press for homemade ciders and wines. By the way, water mellon juice is awesome.
